Shannon Air Traffic Control Centre
The Shannon Air Traffic Control Centre is a key component in the Irish national air navigation system. It provides control for all air traffic operating in Irish airspace reaching out into the North Atlantic to include all over flying aircraft crossing from America. The Design was the winner of an international architectural competition.

The Building is Mission Critical and designed to N+2 for all essential operational elements. It has a simple organising principle, which will allow the various components of the brief to expand, when required, quite separately and independently of each other.
The glazed links between the accommodation elements provides a welcoming entry point, while the curved metallic expression of the various masses reflects the high-technology nature of its function, a rigorous ergonomic working environment, sustaining a busy ATC service operating 24:7:365.
In addition to the primary ATC function, the facility includes an education unit for training national and international ATC students together with a full administration section. Levels of operator awareness are enhanced through ergonomic principles and adopting excellence in acoustic design and high levels of controllable daylight throughout.
