The Dudley House however, flowed simply off the drawing board. In the tradition of previous houses designed by the office, it has glass walls and solid gables. It is lifted off the ground and located in a beautiful garden setting.
It’s unique qualities flow from a T-shaped plan which centres the large family around the kitchen – it creates a sense of visual calm which comes from the use throughout of a double square (2:1) proportion and its cantilevering steel frame which gently floats above a simple Wicklow granite plinth.
